Coaching, Trainers and Police Checks:

  • Thank you for your interest in becoming a Coach or Trainer this season

  •  All teams require one certified Coach and one certified Trainer.

  • Assistant Coaches will only be considered where extra help is needed after the Coach and Trainer spots are filled.

  • Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Trainers will assist on the ice with the Velsk8 Instructors during instruction and practice times.

 

Eligibility to Coach:

It is imperative for all Team Officials to ensure their Vulnerable Sector Check is complete to be eligible to
programs on and off the ice.

This includes a valid Vulnerable Sector Check and the OHF Screening Declaration Form.

Before entering the OHF Screening Submission Portal, please ensure you are ready with the necessary
documentation. You will need your:

• Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) Number; AND
• Vulnerable Sector Check (PDF) AND OHF Screening Declaration Form (PDF);

1. Save your VCS as a .pdf
2. Complete the OHF Declaration & save as a .pdf.  This is the link for the declaration ...
3. Have your HCR # ready
4. Go directly to the OHF Portal and complete the form, attaching your documents:

Requirements and Certifications:

Volunteers must obtain the necessary training and certifications for the position they intend to volunteer for, as required by the Alliance Hockey Association of Ontario and Hockey Canada. You obtain these qualifications well before the season starts in October.

Required Qualifications and Course Links:
The following courses must be completed to qualify for your assigned coaching position.  

1. Gender Identity And Expression Training:
This is required for any volunteer coaching or trainer position.  There is no cost.

2. Respect In Sport – Activity Leader:
This is required for any volunteer coaching or trainer position.

3. Waivers:
All waivers under your coaching profile on HCR Spordle must be signed, including the Rowan's Law Waiver.

4. Coach - HU - ONLINE Coach 1/Coach 2:
This course is required for all Head Coaches in all divisions. Click Here To Go to Hockey Canada's Course Site

5. Coach 1 - Intro To Coach:
This course is required to become a Head Coach for U7 and U9.  Click Here to go to Hockey Canada's Course Site.

Trainer - HTCP Level 1:

Each Team is required to have a Trainer assigned.  The HTCP Level 1 program is the introductory level of the program, which introduces the participant to the principles of injury and risk management.
